ISSA has published a new and updated standard for measuring “clean” that goes beyond “sight, smell, and touch.”
In April 2015, ISSA published its newest standard – the ISSA Clean Standard: Institutional and Commercial – for implementation by companies providing cleaning services to office buildings, retail stores, hotels, and similar facilities.
Based in large part on the research that underscores the ISSA Clean Standard: K-12 for schools, the I&C standard specifically provides “ranges of clean” using ATP testing, which adds a quantitative metric to the standard and quality controls; this allows the standard to improve over traditional “sight, smell, and touch” methods of inspection and quality control.
The standard also prompts corrective action when desired cleaning effectiveness is not being achieved.
