Homeowners in the Charleston area recognize the name Castle Keepers as synonymous with excellence in residential cleaning. But did you know that Castle Keepers holds a position of leadership nationwide among maid services? It’s true. Not only has Castle Keepers earned the trust of Lowcountry residents with decades of reliable service, we have long been involved in making our industry as a whole cleaner, safer and greener.
In April of 2013, Castle Keepers owner Tom Stewart, together with Derek Christian—owner of Cincinnati-based My Maid Service—launched an online trade magazine devoted to the residential cleaning industry. It’s called Cleaning Business Today. As the name implies, CBT is aimed not at you the homeowner, but at other cleaning business owners and managers. We at Castle Keepers care not only about our local community, but about our country and the world.
Cleaning Business Today is the first trade journal in the cleaning industry to combine the latest in tools and techniques with an equal balance of the best business practices. CBT is a cleaning magazine and website for anyone who owns or wants to start a cleaning business.
Castle Keepers owners Tom and Janice Stewart are known across the US, and Tom is a past president of the Association of Residential Cleaning Services International, the industry’s largest trade organization. In September 2009, we became the world’s first residential cleaning service to earn a Cleaning Industry Management Standard certification (with honors, no less), the industry equivalent to ISO-9000, and its Green Building designation. Compliance with these standards ensures consumers that a company is structured to deliver consistent, quality services designed to fulfill their needs and meets or exceeds industry-established green-cleaning requirements.
Tom and Janice Stewart help other entrepreneurs run maid services more professionally. Tom serves as Publisher of Cleaning Business Today, while Janice is a regular contributor, writing articles often centered around the science of cleaning. Cleaning with chemical-free methods, after all, is better for the environment, for our employees and for consumers. You might say that the Stewarts are trying hard to be good stewards of our planet, and empowering other business owners to do the same.
