Consumer Products to Prove “Anti-bacterial” Claims by 2016

The FDA is proposing a new rule to correct is 1994 claim that “nearly all antiseptic active ingredients currently in use are ‘generally recognized as safe and effective.” The rule would require manufacturers of products labeled anti-bacterial to conduct clinical studies to prove their claims.
