Potential robotic vacuum cleaner spy

Vulnerability in LG SmartThinQ app leaves homes and offices open to hackers.

Consumers who own LG Hom-Bot vacuum cleaners or other smart devices, and also use the LG SmartThinQ app, may be open to hackers spying on their homes or offices. Researchers at IT security firm Check Point Software Technologies discovered a back door in the app. If someone knows your user name, they can create a new login and then change their user name to yours.  The video below demonstrates the hack.


Since the discovery, LG has fixed the app. Users should download the latest version in order not to be vulnerable.
