Recent studies by Arizona State University show that hard water scaling inside pipes and on bathroom and kitchen fixtures are popular with the bacteria. It seems the scaling, primarily calcium and magnesium, are great at holding onto the biofilm that protects the bacterial ecosystem. Read more.
