It’s easy to forget that leaders – business owners – need their employees to “buy into” changes they make, and communication is the key to empowering positive change.

Communicating plans and reasons for changes is arguably the most often forgotten step in implementing and new or updated program or procedure within a business. Consider taking the Leadership Communication Oath: I solemnly pledge to

  1. start communicating early
  2. ask more questions
  3. create conversation, not (more) PowerPoint slides
  4. acknowledge and understand resistance
  5. be patient
  6. communicate regularly
