If you own, operate or work in a cleaning business, the annual cleaning convention and education conference is an essential leadership and business development opportunity. From business beginners to the million and growing groups, this year’s schedule boasts universal topics for the benefit of all.

I had an interesting email last week. A new ARCSI member wanted to know if our convention was only for large companies.   WOW, what a wakeup call, but it was certainly an honest question. So let me start this article by emphatically stating that the ARCSI Annual Convention and Education Conference is for ALL residential cleaning companies, regardless of size or experience. Whether you are your only employee or if you have 50 employees, whether you are just starting up or have been in business for 30 years, your business and you will benefit by attending the ARCSI Convention.

Our 2013 Convention Chair Angela Wilson of Solano Maids and her committee have worked extremely hard to put together a program that will have something for everyone. The committee is made up of owners who understand the day-to-day challenges that require your constant attention. They determined that, regardless of size, any company must deal with employee issues, has marketing challenges, and is always looking for innovative ways to improve their operations.    Our programming will provide valuable information and take-aways on topics ranging from creating the right culture in your business, to marketing tips, to resolving conflicts in a positive manner, to employee issues of hiring, firing, and training, to developing a strategic plan. We will have over 25 hours of educational opportunities for our attendees.   Our presenters are successful owners who have “been there, done that”, the industry’s leading consultants who will bring their most successful and proven programs to help grow your business, and nationally known speakers with solutions to everyday business issues. You can see our complete education schedule at www.cleaningconvention.org.

Our partnership with ISSA provides our attendees with additional learning opportunities. You will have access to over 700 vendors on the ISSA Show Floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center, including the ARCSI Booth (#2693). ARCSI attendees can also attend the ISSA keynote programs featuring Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, John Foley, a former Navy Blue Angel pilot, and David Blaine, who will entertain and surprise you. ARCSI values our relationship with ISSA and its top notch staff and leadership. Their support helps us give our members and convention attendees the best possible convention experience. In addition, BSCAI and IEHA will also be holding their conventions at this time, so it is the one time of year when everyone and anyone that has anything to do with cleaning is in the same place.

Year after year, our convention attendees tell us the most important aspect of attending is the networking opportunities they have during convention week. This may be the one time that “what happens in Vegas, DOESN’T stay in Vegas.” The Convention is the one place where you can get one-on-one and face-to-face with your peers. You can discuss your successes, your problems, and your issues with other owners who understand what you are talking about as it relates to running a residential cleaning business. It is a chance to make new friends and visit with old ones. You will make both business and personal connections that will last a life time.

Finally, it’s FUN!  We all need to get away and recharge our batteries. Our Sunday night Welcome Reception will kick off our convention week. On Monday night you can “Dance with the ARCSI Stars.”  Our gala President’s Reception and Awards Presentations will wind up a great Convention week on Wednesday evening. In addition to presenting our seven ARCSI Image Awards, we will present two very special awards. Our 2013 Professional Cleaner of the Year is Tammy Wagoner of That Extra Touch in Cheyenne, WY. Tammy is also an IICRC Certified House Cleaning Technician.  Our 2013 President’s Award winner is Rachel Farquer, General Manager of My Maid Service in Lebanon, OH.

It’s an action-packed week.  If you have already registered, we’re looking forward to seeing you. If you haven’t registered, you still can. Don’t miss what could be the most important five days in the life and growth of your business.
