Just this week, an ISSA—The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association-led coalition of more than 40 groups representing millions of employees and many millions more customers urged U.S. President-Elect Joe Biden and his transition team to support the inclusion of a “healthy workplace” tax credit in the next federal stimulus package.
We sent a similar letter to the bipartisan group of U.S. senators who recently announced a $908 billion COVID-19 relief proposal and to congressional leadership. Your ISSA Government Affairs team also has been in discussions with cosponsors of the “Healthy Workplaces Tax Credit Act” (S. 4214 and H.R. 7615) and we continue to reach out to other legislators who are “on the fence” regarding this important public safety issue.
Our letter explained a healthy workplace tax credit should be “targeted, temporary, and available to business entities and nonprofits,” which have spent and will continue to spend an enormous amount on cleaning, disinfecting, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, etc. to ensure workplaces are as safe and healthy for workers and customers as possible.
We have heard a federal stimulus package could come together in the coming days. Accordingly, now is the time to urge your federal elected officials to include a healthy workplace tax credit in the next COVID-19 relief bill. Nearly 750 of your colleagues and ISSA advocates have already taken action on this issue. Please make your voice heard by taking a moment to email, call, and/or tweet your elected officials using ISSA’s Action Center and request their support for the tax credit as part of any stimulus package.
