Easter egg hunts are exciting for kids of all ages. Here are 9 tips to make sure that your Easter egg hunt is a smashing success!
1) Section off your yard so that the younger kids can hunt for eggs in one section, where eggs aren’t hidden quite so sneakily. Plus, this means that the little ones will stay clear of the big kids that are running around frantically grabbing eggs.
2) Count the eggs. (Especially the real eggs.) There’s nothing worse than a smelly, rotten Easter egg surprise after one has been sitting in the sun for 3 days.
3) If you’re using plastic eggs, consider adding in small toys and stickers instead of candy. You can also add IOUs or personalized family coupons inside. Filling your little bunnies with sugar just means that they will be hopping around extra hyper for the rest of the afternoon.
4) You aren’t limited by the size of the egg. If you have larger items to give out, you can hide small pieces of paper inside the eggs with prizes written on them.
5) Add in crafts or other Easter themed activities so that the egg hunt isn’t over too quickly.
6) Put on some music. This is supposed to be fun! Put on something that the kids can dance to while they look for the eggs.
7) Hide fun dress up items such as tutus, bunny noses, silly hats, and plastic jewelry around the yard along with the eggs. This will add a little something different to your hunt, plus, at the end of the hunt all of the kids will be picture-ready.
8) If you use real painted eggs, remember that as they condensate, the eggs will leave a trail of color behind on little hands, faces, and Easter dresses. Make sure you keep “stain free” in mind as you dye the eggs.
9) recycle the plastic eggs. Once the kids empty all of the plastic eggs, put them away to use again next year.
