Mopp makes cleaning cool, then gets bought
Founders of mopp.com, Pete Dowds and Tom Brooks have a different marketing message: make cleaning cool. They’re doing that by connecting customers and cleaners through the Mopp app and using rap-style videos. After coordinating the launch of their app with a humorous rap video that features Mopp employees, the UK company grew more than 900% in 2014 and now boasts upwards of 10,000 cleanings per month. The company apparently gained the attention of virtual maid service Handy, which acquired Mopp in September.
