ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, announced today that it has appointed Lisa Richter director of marketing, effective June 1, 2015.

“This position is critical in supporting the overall branding and strategy of the association as well as guiding our members and the industry to help us change the way the world views cleaning,” explains ISSA Executive Director John Garfinkel. “Further, this position holds the broadest responsibility of the association in working with the other staff directors to accomplish the strategic objectives of the organization. In this role, I am more than confident that Lisa will be an important asset to our team.”

In addition to more than four years of experience with ISSA as a consultant, Richter has spent 15 years as principal of Richter Communications, a marketing and corporate communications consulting firm based in Evanston, IL. Her clients included Fortune 500 companies as well as small- and mid-sized organizations in a variety of industries.

Prior to starting her own company, Richter was a marketing and communications manager for The Sherwood Group, an association-management firm, where she earned a number of awards for her editorial and publishing expertise. Richter also has worked for a variety of trade press and consumer publications as a feature writer and editor.

Since I started working with ISSA in 2011, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the association’s global marketing and communications activities while working with some of the most knowledgeable and caring professionals in the industry,“ says Richter. “I am looking forward to working with the ISSA team to build on the association’s successes and continuing to explore innovative programs and services to help our members succeed.”

In her new role, Richter replaces Dianna Steinbach, who was recently promoted to ISSA director-EMEA to oversee the ISSA office based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, that serves the association’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa region.
