Make new choices and consider taking steps each and every day to create the life you truly desire.

1. MOVE YOUR EYES TO THE PRIZE: Focus on what you do want, not what you do have that you don’t want.

We’re each responsible for the quality of our lives. Our thoughts, words and actions are creating our experiences. When we pay more attention to the negative thoughts we have about ourselves and our lives, the more we attract the negative results. If you say, “well, I can’t stop thinking negatively about myself,” you have made a conscious choice to continue to do so. We can ALWAYS change our minds. RETHINK your life. Just because you believed something for a very long time doesn’t mean you have to believe it forever, especially if that thought isn’t working for you, isn’t adding positively to the quality of your life. It’s harder to change when a thought has turned into a belief, one that you’ve proven over and over again to yourself to be true.

How can you change your life for the better when the “script” you’re living according to doesn’t reflect that which you want? The more you focus on the negative, the more you will receive negatively. You know it works! Just think about all the times you’ve not gotten what you’ve wanted because you lived by this dysfunctional script. “Oh, I will never fit into a size 6. I’ll be fat forever.” OR “I will never advance in the company. They don’t think I’m deserving.” It’s time to move your eyes to the prize and to do that, you need to shift your focus to BELIEVING you are deserving, and then you must CHOOSE differently….to have what would positively nourish you and your life.

2. GROW WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED: Accept yourself as you are and begin creating your best life now.

Don’t wait until you lose the weight, get the promotion, look better. Taking steps now, just as you are, is the right next step, for with each successive step, you will begin to turn towards the life you truly want to live. Don’t envy other people’s success. Be grateful they are in your sights, showing you what is possible, motivating you to move forward.

Most importantly, BE KIND AND COMPASSIONATE TO YOURSELF. Speak only lovingly of yourself and, if that is too hard to do, then just stop speaking negatively about and to yourself. Be willing to start from this moment, leaving your history, your baggage behind. Bring only “carry-on luggage” – bringing with you only the most important life- affirming beliefs you have about yourself. (The airports are now charging for any baggage you check and their fees are ridiculous. Think about the price you’re paying to carry your own heavy baggage along with you! Leave it behind. Let it go! It’s not serving you except to reinforce the pain and frustrations of the past.)

3. BABY STEPS REAP BIG REWARDS: Leaning into change with consistent, incremental steps will yield BIG results.

In this world of instant gratification it’s truly hard to be patient. We want it all and we want it right now! Well, accept that life doesn’t work that way and move on. I can promise you that if you take smaller, incremental steps and are consistent with these steps, you will yield big results. These small steps add up quickly and build on each other and you actually advance much further that you would be taking a big ol’ step and then moving back 2 or 3 steps. Attempting to take big steps often reminds us that we’re not good enough if those steps don’t reap rewards. Life happens incrementally anyway….and it worked really well when you were an infant/toddler when you were wide open to life without prejudice or fear.

So, lean into the changes you make. . . taking one step at a time. And, remember to look back after you’ve made some small changes and see where you were. That will help propel you forward.

4. BUILD A BALANCED, NUTURING LIFE: Bring mindful awareness and attentive care to your body, mind and spirit.

Pay attention to what is happening around you. As you take these steps toward your ideal life, notice how things are coming to you; how responses to your actions are occurring. Do you see more “coincidences” in your life. You will…but they’re not coincidences. I like to call them synchronicities, when your life mirrors back to you results that support your goals. The more you attend to your complete self (body, mind and spirit), the more you will attract actions that reflect the positive changes.

Have you ever noticed that when you start to exercise regularly, you feel more energized, focused and motivated and that the other areas of your life seem to function at a higher level?

Like attracts like, so make sure you like what you’re going to want to attract by focusing on the best choices for you. Add activities to your life that feed your spirit, your body, your mind. Bring people into your life who support your actions as well. A big change is to stop talking negatively TO yourself and ABOUT yourself. You probably don’t even realize you do this. LISTEN to your self-talk. “Oh, I’m so stupid.” “I can’t believe I did that.” “Well, that was a dumb thing to do.” “I’m not smart enough, pretty enough, good enough…..” AND, If you have toxic friends/relatives, it’s time to let them go….this isn’t easy, but if you start to put yourself first, they will move to the back burner and, eventually, off the canvas…..OR, they may change their behavior toward you and the relationship will evolve and become healthier. You can’t change others, but you can change you.

5. IT’S NOT WHERE YOU START, IT’S THAT YOU FINISH: Don’t drop out early….the best is yet to come. Take a risk to be happy.

Change isn’t easy. BUT, it is worth it when you’ve made choices that bring about ideal results that bring about change, bring about abundant, healthy growth, that transform your life. Do everything you can to invite in people, places, experiences, opportunities that support your goals.

Important:
Make sure the goals you’ve set your sights on are going to be healthy and positive for you. Then, utilize tools, services and individuals that will encourage and manifest your desires and bring them to fruition.

In conclusion,
close your eyes for a moment and imagine it’s tomorrow morning. You’ve just woken up…the sun is shining through your window, the sky is vibrant blue, the air is cool and fresh and you have a full day ahead of you. What do you want it to look like? How do you want it to unfold? Where do you want to be working? Who do you want to share the day with? What thoughts and ideas do you want to share with your world? What adventures do you want to experience? What do you want to learn? Whose lives do you want to touch, to be touched by? What do you want your world to look like?

Now, if what you desire you already have, then you don’t need to read on….but if not, make new choices and consider taking steps each and every day to create the life you truly desire. It is yours; you just have to go out and create it.

Change your thoughts, change your life.

A simple slogan, but it takes commitment, compassion, self-love, a yearning for a rich, rewarding life, a desire to taste and embrace your life, and a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone and into the unknown … a place of unlimited possibilities. Change isn’t easy, but it is so rewarding and rich.
